Balayage is a wonderful hair colouring trend which uses a technique for highlighting hair to create a graduated, natural-looking effect. Balayage is the french word for sweeping (to sweep) which is exactly how the colour is painted on. No foils and no cap. Due to the way in which the colour is painted it means regrowth of the root area is less noticeable and softer than that using traditional colouring methods. Balayage allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair colour – similar to what nature gives us as children. The principal idea being less is more when creating natural looks, with the the finish being very soft rather than the uniform highlights that foils give.
Balayage is a ‘freehand technique’ because no foil or meche are used to create bespoke, natural looking highlights. It is applied on the surface of your hair and not saturated through the section until the very tips. It can take up to 4 to 5 hour which include lifting, toning and personal colouring. The integrity of your hair is our first priority, so you may not always get the desired look straight away. Natural hair is a blank canvas, so the results are much more achievable as opposed to coloured hair which can take 2-3 sessions over a 6-9 month period). The healthier the hair, the better the results.
