Eyebrow tattooing is also called Permanent Makeup, Semi-Permanent Makeup or SMPU. The treatment is performed using a specialist facial tattooing machine, which works at a much lower frequency than a standard tattoo machine. The pigment is carefully mixed to a shade that suits your skin tone and is applied to the skin using very fine needles. The process normally takes about one hour, but it varies from person to person. You can choose from a range of styles; block brow which is a bold solid design, hair stroke which mimics individual strands of hair or powder brow which is a soft natural brow. Immediately after a brow treatment you should expect the area to look 40-50% darker than the colour you have chosen in consultation. This will start to fade after 3-4 days.
A second top-up will be needed 4-12 weeks after your first treatment. This is usually a 30-60 minute appointment to add additional pigment to the brow area and fill in any gaps.
Your new brows will take up to 2 weeks to heal. After the first day or so scabs will form – you must let the scabs fall off naturally. Don’t be tempted to pick them because doing so will pull away the pigment leaving you with patchy brows.
